Birthday Girl

Hard to believe we now have a 9-year-old in the house! We had fun celebrating Ava's birthday. The 4th was a school day so we started the day off with birthday muffins and gifts.

After celebrating with her class, we enjoyed dinner at Ted's with Mimi, Papa, and Carrie.
Over the weekend we celebrated with friends from school. After a sleepover Friday night, we treated some friends to pizza and mini golf on Saturday. What a crazy bunch! I think we set the record for lost balls at mini golf, some in the water and some in the bushes. Lots of fun had by all!

Needless to say, we are so proud of our "bug". She is such a fun-loving, sweet, friendly, bright girl. It will be exciting to see what the future holds for her.

Back to School- Lots of Firsts!

Ava and Lils have been in school for a couple of weeks now and both girls are LOVING it! Ava is an absolute pro now that she's done it for a few years. I am so thankful that she is there to help Lily with her first year at St. Brendan's. Ava walks her to Kindergarten each day and looks for her during lunch and throughout the day.
This is Lily's first year as a St. Brendan dolphin. She has a wonderful teacher and has already made some friends. She truly looks forward to going to school every day! She is certainly one tired girl, since she goes to school all day, but she is adjusting quite well.

Bennett just started his first year of preschool at Dublin Community, the same preschool the girls attended. Ironically, his teacher Ms. Sue was Lily's teacher the year Bennett was born! We got to go to preschool with Bennett on his first day, although he certainly did not need us there. The minute we walked in, he seemed to be right at home making a bee-line for the cars and trucks. He was not shy either! During story time he chimed right in, telling his teacher he had seen that book before.

Since Dublin Community has always been a part of B's life, he could not wait to go to school. Every day when we would drop the girls off he would ask "Am I going to school?"
This year is a first for me as well! Over the summer I was hired as a part time Reading Recovery teacher, something I have always wanted to do. I am a reading/writing intervention teacher for first graders. I absolutely LOVE my job! It allows me to have a more flexible schedule, which means I can take the girls to school and pick them up. It is great to be working with young kids again too.
Even though there are many firsts this school year, we are off to a GREAT start! We can't wait to see what the year will hold.

Cousin Lovin'

We are so blessed to have family here in Columbus, especially Maya and Baran. The more time they spend together, the closer they get. It is pure joy watching them interact!

Lily's 6th Birthday

Lily celebrated in her birthday in many different ways this year. We kicked off her birthday weekend with a family day the Friday before. We went to the Butterfly exhibit, Katzinger's and mini golf.

She insisted she was ready to get her ears pierced since she was turning six, so on Sunday we headed to Claire's. She looks a little nervous in her "before" picture, but she was SO brave! She still claims that is her favorite birthday gift.

When she woke on her birthday, we had cinnamon rolls and presents waiting!

Then we headed to Toledo for a few days to celebrate with the cousins.

The grand finale was a tea party at Biddie's with her friends. Such a sweet group of girls!

Happy 6th birthday Lils! We love you so much and are so proud of what a caring and sweet young lady your are.
