Buckeye Fever

It's our favorite time of year once again! A time when every Saturday is deemed "Buckeye Day". The flag is hung, the bobbleheads are dusted off, and we proudly wear our stash of Buckeye clothing. We start our kids off early. Ava could sing the fight song as a wee-bitty thing. This is a picture of her at a week old.

This weekend we got Lily off to a good start too.

We watched as the Buckeyes pulled off their first win last weekend. We will be rooting for them each and every Saturday (so don't try to reach us during gametime). Go Bucks!

One Month Old!

Amazing how fast time passes when you have two little ones! Lily is a month old today, and she is beginning to do more than just sleep and eat (and cry).

Well, she still spends most of the day sleeping. She's tried out her crib, the swing, and the bassinet. I think the bassinet might actually be her favorite. She tries to get out of the swaddle, but it ultimately calms her down. So far she is not a big fan of the binky. She does very well at night (much to our relief), waking up only one or two times to eat.

Lily has gained over 2 pounds and has grown 2 inches! Believe it or not, she has Ava beat at one month. She has been a pro at nursing since birth. She eats about 8 times a day. Ava always takes a front row seat for feedings. She's already trying to breastfeed her dolls. So funny! We've tried giving Lily a bottle, but she's a breast girl.

Lily and Ava get along famously. We're soaking this up now, because we know it is only a matter of time for them to start arguing over clothes and phone privilages. Lily turns her head to hear Ava's voice. Ava loves when Lily comes to wake her up. As for Aaron and I, we are getting used to having a newborn again. It's been an adjustment, but there is nothing more fulfilling than raising our family together!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

You quickly find out that there is no time to sit still when you have a newborn and a 3-year-old! Lily has seen so much more than Ava did at 4 weeks old. Here are some places that we've recently visited.

One of Ava's favorite activities is swinging at our neighborhood park. She was very anxious to share this experience with her baby sister.

Whoa! Look at that hair!

We also traveled to Heritage Park for a family picnic.

Lily was a trooper so we decided to introduce her to the pool. Ava had a blast, but Lily was unimpressed.

Ava or Lily?

Many visitors have commented that Lily looks a lot like Ava when she was a baby. So let's compare:

Party Time!

Lily attended her first party over the weekend. She went to Sophi's baptism and Drew's birthday party. Ava is a seasoned party-goer, so she showed her the ropes.

A Visit from the "Nan-ny"

We were lucky enough to have Nan come and stay for the whole week last week!

For Ava, that meant a trip to the zoo and the park, reading an endless amount of books, and a whole lot of playing outside.

For Lily, that meant lots of kisses, cuddles, and baths (of course).
For Mommy, that meant catching up on some much needed sleep, yummy food, and being able to venture outside the house.

Thanks Nan for a great week!!!

Lily Meets the Maassels

While in Toledo, Lily had the chance to meet her cousins.

Jack was an expert at holding her. I think he needs a baby sister.

Josh took a turn too. Look how gentle he is!

Now we can fit the whole family...

and then some.

Even Ava took a test drive!

Lily Candids

Lily is becoming acclimated to life outside the womb. We have found that it's nearly impossible to not compare her to her older sister, but we're trying. She is a very good eater and sleeps well at night. Daddy hardly notices that she's in our bedroom! She enjoys being held during the day and is awake more often now. She ADORES her big sister.

Special Visitors

When there's a new baby in the house, people come from near and far to take a peek at her. Now that Daddy's back at work, we've had a busy week of visiting!

Aunt Beth, Michael, and Jordo stayed a few nights with us.

Aunt Beth has the magic touch.

She took us to Build a Bear! We liked playing with "Spot" and "Diney" at home.

We also had a visit from Aunt Lo.

She brought us these silly suckers!

Mommy's friend Amy also paid us a visit. Thanks for lunch!
